Matthew DeCleene was born in Milwaukee and was the twelfth of thirteen children. The summer before his seventh grade year, he and his family moved to Lena, Wisconsin, a small town about 30 minutes north of Green Bay.
It wasn't until after
graduation from high school that he accepted Jesus
Christ as his Savior. He had been attending a small Baptist Church in
Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, for about a year before making that decision for
Christ. He was an active member at the church: teaching, soul-winning, and
serving as deacon. It was also at this time that Matt married his high
school sweetheart, Vicki.
In the winter of 1988, God began working in the hearts of Matt and Vicki, calling them to full time service in the ministry. In the fall of 1988, the DeCleene family (Matt, Vicki, Rachel, and Matthew) moved to Pembine, Wisconsin, and Matt began his first year as a freshman at Northland Baptist Bible College. Rianna, their third child, was born during this first year of college.
Upon graduation from college in the spring of 1992, the DeCleenes moved to Marinette, Wisconsin to plant a church. (Their fourth child, Micah, was born shortly after their move.) It was here that God providentially provided a place for Twin City Baptist Church to meet, the former Sacred Heart Church building. After much time and labor, the old church took on a new look, and by Sunday, May 3, 1993, regular Sunday services started. A combined ordination/first anniversary service took place in May of 1994.
In August of 2000, Twin City was able to fully support Pastor DeCleene financially, allowing him to finally leave secular employment to attend fully to the needs of the ministry.
His focus today is still the same as when he first came to know the Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ:
"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." - I Corinthians 10:31
